What you can enter. Mom Brain holds whatever you choose to write down about your family: names, birthdays, photos of your kids, sizes and measurements, wellness and illness notes, medications, doctors and other contacts, school details, free-text notes, custom sections you create, and files you attach such as photos, screenshots, and PDFs.
Where it's stored. Everything is saved on this device. There's no account to create, no password to remember, and no Mom Brain server holding your family's information. Before it's written to storage, your saved information is encrypted on the device (AES-GCM, 256-bit) so other apps can't read it. If you want an extra lock on top, you can turn on a PIN in Settings.
Does anything leave your device? Only when you search. When you ask a question, your question and a text snapshot of your saved family information are sent over an encrypted connection to our AI provider (Google Gemini, reached through the Lovable AI Gateway) so it can answer that one question. Nothing else is sent, and nothing is sent in the background. The contents of your photos, screenshots, and PDFs are never sent — attached files stay on your device (a file's name or the caption you typed may be included as text so search can find it). If you never search, no information ever leaves your device.
Who can access your content. The AI provider processes your search request to produce the answer and does not use it to build a profile about you, sell it, or train public AI models. We don't run our own servers that store your family's information, and no other third-party service in the app receives your content. Mom Brain contains no ads, no analytics, no tracking, and no session recording.
Device backups. Mom Brain uses your iPhone's normal app storage, so your saved information is included in your iCloud backup (if you have iCloud Backup turned on) and in encrypted computer backups. That's intentional — it's how your Mom Brain comes with you when you set up a new iPhone. You can exclude it at any time by turning off iCloud Backup for Mom Brain in iOS Settings.
Deleting your information. You can delete any individual item, child profile, note, or attachment inside the app. Deleting the app removes everything stored on that device. If your information was included in an iCloud or encrypted computer backup, that backup remains until it expires, is replaced, or you remove it in iOS Settings.
Permissions. Mom Brain doesn't access your camera, microphone, contacts, location, or photo library on its own. When you choose to attach a file, iOS's built-in picker handles it and Mom Brain only receives the file you selected.
Children's information. Mom Brain is for parents, and what you save is personal. We don't sell it, use it for advertising, or build a profile from it.
